Yesterday, we (MESA) went to Weston’s farm to see how the process of Maple sugaring really worked. Previously, I thought that the effort put into making Maple syrup was much less, but as it turned out, I learned that having success maple tapping was totally dependant on what the conditions of the environment are. My favorite part was learning how the tree sap is turned into syrup, I also really liked when we got free samples of the maple syrup. Now I see why Mr. Oliver says that this was the perfect MESA trip, because we learned about the foresting, how water was involved, and how the climate affected the sap quantity.- Luke Flanders |
