Maine Lakes Association Takes MESA on Kezar Lake

posted Jun 13, 2017, 6:23 PM by Jotham Oliver

On June 13, 2017, MESA travelled to Kezar Lake to meet with Phil Mullvile and Peter Kallin of the Maine Lakes Society. The trip was facilitated by Heinrich Wurm of the Kezar Lake Watershed Association.

While on Kezar, students were able to learn about the epilimnion, metalimnion (thermocline), and hypolimnion, as well as various ways to determine the overall health of a lake. Students were able to use a benthic dredge to brush up on their benthic macroinvertebrates and use their underwater sea perches constructed with the help of Bryant Pond 4H.
